What is turmeric essential oil?

Turmeric essential oil is steam distilled from the roots of the turmeric plant. The essential oil is orange in colour with a warm, woody earthy and a subtle spicy aroma.

The turmeric plant is a perennial herbaceous plant that belongs to the ginger family (Zingiberaceae family). It is native to Southeast Asia and has been used for thousands of years for medicinal substances, spiritual uses and as a spice in food.

Turmeric essential oil has a warm, earthy, spicy and woody aroma and is often used as a base note. It blends well with oils like black pepper, chamomile, geranium, cardamom and clary sage.

How to store turmeric essential oil

Store turmeric essential oil in a cool, dry place and out of direct sunlight to stop the oil from degrading overtime and to help prolong the quality. Ensure to keep all essential oils out of reach of children.

Safety precautions

Turmeric essential oil is very concentrated and should not be applied to the skin directly. Pure turmeric essential oil on the skin could cause irritation, redness or skin reactions.

We highly recommend adding a few drops of turmeric essential oil to a carrier oil before applying to the skin. We also suggest doing a patch test with the diluted oil on a small area of skin to test for sensitivities. Our turmeric essential oil is for external use only and should not be used internally. Ensure to keep turmeric essential oil out of reach of children.
